The era of the acoustic Jazz guitarist – when style mainly depended upon the mastery of the harmonic aspects of the instrument – is now long gone. But since the chordal problems they had to overcome still confront today’s Jazz-orientated player, there is still much to be learnt from their achievements.
Later Jazz giants: Barney Kessel, George Van Eps, Freddie Green, Barry Galbraith (to mention just a few) developed their chord melody styles by building on the past. Here, on these three CDs, students have the opportunity to examine and absorb the best of that those very important pioneers had to offer. And the wonderful thing about such a study is that so much of the music is still in print today.
If you are serious about the guitar you are going to love this set!
