In this, the fifth volume of our on-going CD tribute to this remarkable steel guitarist (and his associates), we focus upon his best-known commercial releases. The music on these recordings represented many of the best-loved and most-played Hawaiian hits of the late '30s and early '40s.

These recordings clearly demonstrate how Andy lona's sensitivity, touch and tone raised the level of steel guitar playing to unprecedented heights. Andy lona's (along with his Islanders) was instrumental in perfecting a musical genre that captured the hearts and minds of romantics around the world.

Bruce Clarke in Australia has produced two more fantastic CD's of Andy lona's exquisite steel guitar artistry. Many of the songs originated on 16' transcriptions which were never released to the public and only were owned by radio stations.
