“Rarities” brings to a close our Andy Iona Project. The two hundred tracks we have restored - hopefully far beyond their former glory - do not tell the complete story, but we believe that we have covered (or should we say uncovered) the best of it.

As usual Volume 10 contains a sprinkling of commercial releases, some previously unreleased material and four crystal clear restorations of Andy’s first four 1929 recordings. Here’s a sample of his 1929 saxophone group’s version of “Hapa Haole Hula Girl”. Back then, saxophone section writing was in its infancy and for that time, Andy’s chart could compare with the best of them.
