Sound Clip From: “I Had To Luva And Leva On The Lava”

Cumquat’s fourth collection from the recorded output of this most recorded of all Hawaiian singers, Ray Kinney, concentrates on the 1939-40 period.  A magical time, when Tommy Castro – steel guitar; George Kainapau – ukulele & vocals; and Henry Paul – guitar & vocals, were his principal supporting players.  George and Ray were in their prime and at the top of their game, and Tommy was at his most seductive best.

Let’s lend an ear to Ray’s interpretation of “I Had To Luva And Leva On The Lava” (On The Slopes Of Haleakala).
