The commercially released recordings of the ‘Polynesians’ were probably the last musical collaborations by ageing masters of an earlier generation.  At different sessions Bob Nichols, Harry Baty, Bernie Kaai, Sam Kaapuni, Freddie Tavares and others - usually working as trios or quartets and using overdubbing techniques – recreated the spirit of Hawaii’s yesteryear cocooned in the sound of the sixties.
