Al Hendrickson at the age of twenty made his recording debut with the Artie Shaw Gramercy five, thirteen months after Charlie Christian joined the Benny Goodman Sextet. These two outfits were the main trend setting small groups of the early-40s.

In over a forty year, professional playing career – mostly centered in Hollywood - he is estimated to have performed on over 5000 recordings or film sound tracks: A topflight soloist and a superb sideman. Let’s check him out on this 1947 version of “The Bannister Slide”
