Sound Clip From: "Concierto De Aranjuez"

In 1973, The Alan Lee Quartet participated in a series of ground-breaking jazz concerts in Melbourne's Victorian Art Gallery.  Alan, one of the real natural talents and innovators of Aussie Jazz, drawing inspiration from the great composers of the 20th Century, adapted works by Stravinski, Faure, Rodrigo, Villa-Llobos and Cantaloube for his small jazz ensemble.   His sensitive treatment of these great masterpieces not only did them justice, they also brought these important works to the attention of a new generation.

The Gallery Concerts were subsequently recreated in Cumquat's studio and released on a Cumquat LP in November of that year.
