During the era of the great rhythm guitarists, many of these artists were not only time-keepers but superb soloists.

It's a sad fact that few ever had an opportunity to record as leaders - most fulfilled the role of sidemen, their contributions overshadowed by their glamorous employers.  George Van Eps, Art Ryerson, Allan Reuss and Dick McDonough are four whose work survives on Cumquat to enchant all who appreciate acoustic guitar artistry: Van Eps with The Jess Stacy Quartet & Russ Morgan's Wolverines, Ryerson with Whiteman's Swinging Strings, McDonough with an all-star quartet & Reuss with Paul Whiteman, The Arnold ross Quartet & The Jack Teagarden Orchestra.

Just listen to Allan Reuss' astounding chord solo on Bye Bye Blues.  Ever hear anything like that before?
