Once upon a time, before Rock 'n Roll and 'singer-songwriters' numbed our neurons, musicians and singers were required to be musically literate i.e. able to read, interpret and perform a great diversity of music and musical styles, composed or arranged by craftsmen who were simply the best in their particular fields. The stars in this long-gone firmament were the professional studio artists. These were the musicians and singers who breathed life into the proliferation of radio broadcasts, recordings, and early television shows, that had to be wrapped up in the standard Musicians Union "three-hour call". From the early '30s through to the mid '70s they thrived then, almost overnight, they vanished! This album is a tribute to their artistry.
