In the immediate post-war years, Melbourne – like most major centres - was a hotbed of musical change. Pre-war tastes and attitudes were out and fresh ideas and experimentation were in. In the USA, the bebop movement would eventually lay the foundations for future creative jazz, but here in Australia the question was: Is their future what we really want our future to be? It's all documented in this, our historic ‘Jazz From Down Under’ series of CDs!

The present program kicks off with four tracks recorded in the studios of Radio 3AW Melbourne. ‘Blue Moon’ arranged by Ron Loughhead, the others by Bruce Clarke, with tracks 1 & 3 featuring the great Torres Strait Island songstress, Georgia Lee.
